Mechanical Engineering Resources

Mechanical Engineering Resources

Getting reliable and standardized data is a priority for mechanical engineers. Mechanical Engineering is a very vast field and one which cannot be completely mastered. Thus a true mechanical engineer is in the process of a life long learning. The internet has helped to document vast amounts of information related to mechanical engineering on various websites. Here are some sites I have found useful during my short duration in the field of mechanical engineering. These sites contain all sorts of information organised under different sections. Information for designing various systems, mathematical formulas, various mechanical concepts, about properties of different materials, data tables, standard dimensions of sections, fasteners etc  can be found in these sites. The list of sites will get updated as I find new, credible and useful sites.

 1. eFunda

eFunda stands for engineering Fundamentals. Its mission is to create an online destination for the engineering community, where working professionals can quickly find concise and reliable information to meet the majority of their daily reference needs.eFunda is all about the basics, for most part, that means college level material covered in engineering schools. If you practice engineering, more often than not you would find yourself searching for something you knew but could not quite remember. eFunda wants to be your reminder of these formulas. Not only that, eFunda wants to tell you exactly under what conditions those formulas apply, so you don't have to read an entire chapter of the good old textbook.

  2. Engineersedge

Engineers edge is a very useful website which help mechanical engineers develop products from concept, design to manufacture by providing resources, engineering and design information at the finger tip of mechanical engineers. This is a professional site which helps professionals.

3. Engineershandbook

This site is an ongoing project to present as much reference information as possible for people interested in mechanical design, manufacturing and engineering in general. There is a great deal of information available right now online and this is an attempt to make it available at a single place.

4. MatWeb

The heart of MatWeb's services is our searchable online database of engineering materials. We have over 105,000 data sheets in our collection and have many powerful search tools  available to help our users find the materials information that they need. While we have a variety of services that we offer to companies in the engineering community, our success has been the result of our attention to the engineers, designers, and processors who use MatWeb each day.
