Cube Testing Machine

This is a cube testing machine used in engineering colleges and construction sites to test the strength of concrete cubes. It works using force applied with the help of a  hydraulic piston.The piston contains an oil on which force is applied. The concrete block is kept on the cylinderical base and held in place using the lead screw. Now as the force is applied on the pump the cylinder raises but the lead screw does not move as it is locked. The pressure experienced in the oil is shown in a pressure gauge. This pressure is equal to the pressure applied on the concrete cube. Thus the exact pressure under which the cube breaks is measured using the meter.

During the construction of cube testing machine special care has to be taken to make sure that the hydraulic channels are made fully leak proof. If not the pressure gets lost and the work done on the fluid is wasted.The joints in the hydraulic fitting are compression fitted.
